Safety First

When travelling, I carry a lot of photo gear. But I don't want to bring it with me every day, and like to leave some of it in my hotel. Here's what I use to ease my mind:

Pacsafe.

It's a wire mesh bag that you can wrap around your camera bag, backpack, or other luggage, and lock it to a fixed object, like a hotel sink. It's not foolproof, but it will slow someone down. Tip: They come in several sizes; make sure you get one that fits snugly around your item.

Again, I have no connection to them, other than I like their products.

Travel Insurance

Before you travel, it's a good idea to check into insurance. You can get insurance for medical expenses, trip cancellation, evacuation expenses, and other things. Some companies may or may not cover expenses, but when you call them they'll help you figure out next steps in case of emergency, which can be very helpful.

A convenient place to look at options is a website called:

Insure My Trip

I'm not endorsing them and I'm not associated with them. I just find their website info personally convenient.
